City Spotlight: Orlando, Florida

As corporate event designers we are fortunate enough to be able to work and travel with our clients to some of the most fascinating U.S. cities including Cincinnati, New York, Denver, Las Vegas and Orlando. While designing and executing corporate events remotely requires a bit more planning and research, our “fresh eyes” lead us to discover unforgettable experiences that our clients might not have found otherwise.

It seems only fitting for our first installment of our City Spotlight series that we showcase Cvent’s best meeting destination city and our hometown, Orlando, Florida. According to Visit Orlando, a record breaking 68 million people visited the City Beautiful in 2016. With the second largest concentration of hotel rooms out of any city in the U.S. and one of the top convention centers in the country, it’s no wonder that planners and clients alike are flocking to Central Florida.

Key City Highlights:

Orlando prides itself in being one of the busiest cities in America for conferences and conventions. And thanks to the Rosen College of Hospitality Management, Orlando is raising the bar on delivering world-class service and redefining the guest experience. Founded in 2004, the school ranks among the top five hospitality and hotel management schools in the world, according to CEOWORLD Magazine, and is an invaluable asset in the local community’s growth within the industry.

Within the past decade, the Orlando the events industry has exploded and as such attracts some of the country’s most talented vendors. These vendors are leading the creative way in offering exciting new design elements such as metallic furniture, sail cloth tents and 3D mapping, which in turn help us to design unique corporate events right in our own backyard.

It goes without saying that one of the biggest perks of hosting an event in Orlando is the ability to offer programs outside in the beautiful Florida weather. Recently, at the Rosen Shingle Creek, our Sublime Event Designs team capitalized on the magical Orlando twilight to craft the perfect backdrop while recreating the sounds, sights, and tastes of Cuba.

Guests were treated to authentic cigar rollers, chef-attended action stations, a rum tasting experience, and oversized vintage games all enveloped in an accent of textured lighting that was perfectly timed come to life just as night fell. We can’t take credit for the full moon, that’s all Mother Nature, but she did bless Orlando with consistent, spectacular, royal blue skies (available only at twilight), that when utilized properly, add a unique ambiance that can be difficult to reproduce in other locations.

Great hotels, stellar service, amazing vendors and a magic sky are only the beginning of what Orlando has to offer for anyone planning an upcoming event. Having lived and worked in Central Florida for decades, and in light of recent challenges, we are proud to call Orlando home. Witnessing the citizens of our community come together to rebuild after Hurricane Irma has only furthered our love for this amazing place. So whether you are planning a seminar, conference, executive retreat or incentive program, we sincerely hope you will consider hosting your next event in our beautiful city.
